Fanatic Twins 09

Yet another southerly storm lashed Wellington today (08 has been the year of southerlies). This southerly was actually sailable (just). Got to try the new Fanatic New Wave Twin today in cross onshore Lyall Bay, 30-40 knots and about logo waves out the back. Three comments so far:
  • They are really soft landers from high jumps - the pinny tails make tail first landings a joy
  • They definitely have a ride feel smaller that the stated volume - 78 felt at least 5 litres smaller to ride
  • They are incredibly controllable in tight spots and very very snappy off the top.
Did I mention it was cold? OMG it was one of the coldest days I have sailed. Sunny, but snow in the hills, about 5 - 6 degrees on the beach (without wind chill). Couldn't speak properly after the first half hour. Couldn't think properly after the second half hour. Dave McPhee (Wildwinds) came down to snap a few shots of Troy Purcell and I (see below).

Check the Wildwinds website for a few more shots.
